On finding yoga . .
While working as an independent trainer at a gym in Addison, TX, there was a glass enclosed small studio outside. Addison Circle yoga. I used to watch the classes while i waited for clients in the adjacent gym. Of course I took a class and was hooked. Yoga was what my life was missing. A connections to something, a connection to myself. About 3 years in, I decided to take Gaia Flow Yoga (name changed as they grew) their teacher training in 2008 and have been teaching ever since. Like many say and I will concur, yoga changed my life. Furthered my yoga education (500hr TT) and experience learning under Ricky Tran, an extremely knowledgeable student of Ramaswami who was a student under Sri Krishnamacharya. I hope to continue on and become a yoga therapist within this same lineage.
What is learned since . . .
When one spends many years in the fitness industry, you learn a lot. Upon finding yoga, that is when the realization of the missing element to a sound, lifelong health and fitness practice. It was yoga. Yoga helps not just the body to be supple and more realized but the more importantly the mind. If you consider the aging process: muscle loss and wasting, loss of hormones etc, plus patterns we create in the body on a daily basis with work or simply our posture, we need something to bring us back to balance. That is yoga.
What is brought to the table . .
Yes ZEN Appeal is a female owned small business. We have been going strong since 2013 and plan to continue for as long as people need help making health and fitness AND YOGA a part of their daily lives. Yes men practice yoga. Yoga was created by men for men over 5000 years ago. Only until Indra Devi was allowed to practice in 1938 (reluctantly) by my 500hr lineage Sri Krishnamacharya, were women excluded from Yoga. After her, not until the 1970's were women openly allowed.
Since opening FIT Appeal Studios in 2013, yoga was always going to be a part of our program. Not only have we have helped 13 competitors prepare for the stage, helped others prepare for their special wedding days and vacations, changed some clients lives by empowering them with the tools needed to regain and maintain their desired health and fitness level BUT also have helped heal people's minds and bodies through the practice of yoga. Weight training to keep the body strong, yoga to keep the body supple and pliable against the aging process, plus support calm of mind and nutrition to help support both with healthy good quality foods to help with quality of life. All 3 are a very good way to a healthy lifestyle.
ZEN Appeal is passionate about health and fitness AND yoga. We strive to change peoples ideas about yoga, exercise and nutrition to a new understanding of the better we care for your bodies and our health, the more our bodies will give back to us. yoga, health and fitness gives us a better quality of life. The bonuses are all the shape changes that are possible, taking control of your mind, health and body and creating your own fitness masterpiece.
